We're pleased to offer the following services at Poway Animal Hospital:
Treat your pet to a luxurious bath. Our special, cleansing baths remove dirt, debris and that doggie pet odor – your pet will feel fresh and revitalized. If scratching is a problem, our medicated baths contain soothing agents that stop the itching. Services also include nail trim and ear cleaning.
Illness doesn't always have a physical cause. We employ trained animal behaviorists who help determine the cause of such disorders as separation anxiety and obsessive behavior, and then develop a treatment regimen for the client.
Pets are like our children – we feed, nurture and lavish attention on them. Our highly qualified kennel attendants do the same when you can't be there. We provide tender loving care (such as brushing and cuddling), and walks to keep them happy and active.
We are excited to offer our 26th annual Dental Special for our clients through March of this year. It's an excellent value for owners and a medical necessity for pets.
Studies prove that 80% of all pets over age three have periodontal disease and need immediate dental care. The bacteria in the mouth causes bad breath and gum disease locally but they also spread to the intestines, liver, heart and kidneys causing premature deterioration of these vital organs. Professional dental cleaning and treatments, coupled with proper home care will give your pet a healthier and longer life.
The doctor will examine your pet and a blood test will be run to check for any potential problems prior to scheduling your dental. By examining your pet prior to anesthesia, doing blood tests to check organ function, and using the safest anesthetic available, the risks of anesthesia are minimized. Your pet's teeth are cleaned to remove plaque and tartar, particular attention is given to "hidden" problems under the gum line. The teeth are then polished for a smooth finish. Your pet is discharged on the same evening with better smelling breath, and more importantly a healthier and more comfortable mouth.
During our Dental Special we are offering a $250 discount off our normal dental price. This brings our canine dental price down to $508 and our feline dental price down to $413. For pets over 70lbs there is an additional $84.33 charge for additional anesthesia. The Dental Special does not include extractions, dental radiographs, pain medications, laser gum therapy or antibiotics.
Regular professional cleaning is important to maintaining your pet's teeth. We use modern and safe ultrasound to clean each tooth thoroughly - above and below the gum line. Dental technicians polish teeth to create a smooth, lustrous tooth surface more resistant to plaque buildup. Fluoride treatments help strengthen enamel and reduce tooth sensitivity.

Lasers are a minimally invasive alternative to traditional surgery. Lasers replace scalpels in many procedures, and are useful for a wide range of conditions, such as cyst, tumor, and wart removal, and can even be used in declawing. Laser procedures result in less pain; less bleeding and less swelling. They reduce risk of infection and result in less post-operative discomfort.
Laser Therapy also know as “photobiomodulation” uses specific wavelengths of light (red and near-infrared) to promote healing. Scientific studies have shown this therapy to shorten healing time, decrease swelling, increase circulation to area and reduce pain. Therapeutic Laser does not require sedation and minimal restraint is required as most pets typically find the experience pleasant. To find out more infromation visit: http://www.k-laser.com/pet-owners
