Dr. Tracy H. Smith, DVM
I graduated from Colorado State University School of Veterinary Medicine in the same class as my wife Patricia. I enjoy skiing, golf, hiking, and mountain biking. My two sons have graduated from college and still live in San Diego. I have been practicing in Poway since 1979. I have recently attended continuing education seminars in pet behavior, dermatology, endoscopy, dentistry, and advanced laser surgery procedures. I am extremely proud of our staff at Poway Animal Hospital and want to thank our clients and friends for the support throughout the years.
Dr. George K Shinzaki, DVM
My academic background is a BA in molecular biology from the University of California at San Diego and a DVM from the University of California at Davis. I have been in practice at Poway Animal Hospital since 1979. Practicing quality medicine with Dr. Smith and caring for your pets are two of the major joys of my life. I appreciate your trust.
Dr. Patricia Teague DVM
Since graduating from Colorado State University’s Veterinary School in 1978, I have never found my chosen career boring! The wonderful people and new animal friends I meet on a daily basis keep it exciting. The quality of Veterinary medicine knowledge, diagnostics, and treatments are ‘state of the art’ in San Diego. After practicing in an emergency hospital, a specialty referral hospital and 23 years as the practice owner of Scripps Ranch Veterinary Hospital, I have seen the evolvement of our Veterinary Community. I am looking forward to my new opportunity as a staff Veterinarian at Poway Animal Hospital. I especially love geriatric medicine and feline medicine. It is a gift to see many of these animal friends for their lifetime. My spare time is spent enjoying tennis, golf, skiing and time with our sons when they are available.
Dr. Ira Abrams DVM
I grew up in Chicago and graduated from
the university of Illinois College of Veterinary Medicine in 1979. I was
proud to be the Valedictorian of my class. I worked for one year in
Chicago and then migrated to warmer weather in Los Angeles, California.
After a year as an associate veterinarian in a small animal practice, I
moved to San Diego where I did relief veterinary work for several
practices and eventually bought my own hospital in 1985. After 21 years,
I decided to sell my practice and resume relief work so I could spend
more time with my family. In my spare time, I enjoy traveling, golfing,
attending sporting events with my son and caring for our cat Sabrina.
